The maid is available from Monday to Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Guests who require the maid for additional hours may hire her directly for a small fee.
The guests can decide how and when they would like the maid to work. Typically she comes in at 8:00am to clean the Penthouse. If this is too early for some guests then she can come in at a later time but her shift will still end at 4:00pm.
After the maid cleans the Penthouse she will either stay in the apartment to assist with the guest's additional requirements or she will wait in the building's reception area until the guest calls her. If the guest does not require her services after cleaning the Penthouse please tell her so and she will go home.
Some guests have asked for no maid service at all, however, we require the Penthouse to be cleaned at least five times a week in order to ensure the Penthouse is always sanitary and properly maintained. Guests may ask the maid not to clean their individual room but she is absolutely required by the Penthouse management to clean the kitchen and other common areas. Guests who find this policy unacceptable are welcome to visit one of the many Hostels in Cartagena that will be happy to provide the desired environment.
In additional to cleaning the Penthouse, the maid does laundry, cooks meals and goes shopping at no charge. The best grocery store in Cartagena is called “Carulla” and it is located only a few minutes by taxi from the Penthouse. One suggestion on first arriving at the Penthouse is to give the maid a list of needed things and she will go to Carulla to buy everything. Carulla has an excellent selection of fresh fruits, fish, dairy products, American brand breakfast cereals, American brand personal hygiene products and an excellent South American beef called “Lomo Fino” for those who want to cook up some juicy steaks. Carulla also has a large selection of imported alcohol products such as Miller, Johnny Walker, Budweiser, Canadian Club and various imported wines. The imported products are usually double or triple the price of Colombian products.
